Percy and Annabeth Ch. 13

Annabeth's PoV. Chapter 13.


    I blinked my eyes open as I woke up, and saw that horrible night mare. The island in my dream where Percy died. The sand was clean white and crystal clear water surrounded it. Any person's paradise getaway. I was terrified.

In case you didn't know, demigod dreams are not at all like mortal dreams. Our dreams are actual events. Things that might happen, or things that already happened. The future isn't set in stone though, things can change. But that rarely happens; the Fates are never wrong.

I jumped off the front of the boat; not wanting to stay here any longer, I tried to push the boat back to sea. I pushed for an hour and it didn't budge. I saw Percy jump off and give me a weird look.

"We should get back into the water... You know, to find Artemis' bow." I said quickly.

"What's the rush, she didn't exactly give us a deadline. Plus, I think I saw something glowing in the water down there." Percy pointed to some rocks far away from the shore.

"I'll go look into it, after we eat." He smiled holding up a basket of strawberries from camp. Stupid Seaweed Brain, always keeping us distracted.

Over the next hour or so, Percy and I sat on a blanket near the shore, eating strawberries. He would ask me why I looked worried, and I'd say I wasn't and swallow a bunch of strawberries whole. I kept expecting a sea serpent to show up; the setting was perfect. After we finished eating, I stopped worrying. It wouldn't show up and an invisible weight lifted off my shoulders.

Percy cleaned up our stuff and put it back on the boat.
"I'm going to look for food on this island. Coconuts or something." He said after he put our things away.

"You're still hungry? Jeez, Seaweed Brain."
"I meant for later." He smiled. And as usual, my heart beat faster.

"Oh.. 'Kay. I'll go check out that glowing thing you saw near the rocks." I tried to think of something to do. That's what I thought of.

"Right now? Do you... Want me to go with you?" He looked scared. Like I might drown myself or something.

"No, go find us food... For later" I mimicked his voice and made air quotes.

He kissed me on the cheek and walked toward the trees. I felt my face immediately get hot.
