Percy's PoV. Chapter 29.

I found Annabeth crying quietly on the rooftop of our apartment building.
"Why are you crying, Owl Head?" I said running up to her. She must've been surprised because she jumped and quickly wiped her eyes with her arm sleeves.

"N-no I'm not!" She said sniffing quietly.

"I heard that." I said laughing. She punched me in the arm; she wasn't kidding.

"Oh... What's wrong?" I spread my arms wide for a hug and she tackled me sinking her face in my chest and sobbing louder. My shirt would've been soaked if I didn't have the ability to stay dry.

"Y-you're... Y-you l-like Calypso m-more." She cried heavier; I could feel her hot breath through my clothes and on my skin. I got nervous when she said that. That truth was, I wasn't sure... But I definitely loved Annabeth.

"What! What are you talking about! I love you. Really, I do." That was the second time I've said that to her- well technically third, but she was unconscious for the first time... I think.

"I-I know! B-but you l-love her more." She choked. I hugged her tight and lifted her face up.

"Says who." I said and arched my back down to kiss her with my hands in her hair. I felt her move her hands around my hair and kiss me furiously for a couple seconds but then she stopped and pushed me back.

"N-no Percy!" Her eyes were puffy red now and she was talking in between sniffs and sobs. I didn't know what she wanted me to say! I loved her with everything in my heart and soul; wasn't that enough?

Then a couple bright lights appeared which blinded me for a few seconds. Standing next to us was Aphrodite and Poseidon and Athena yelling at each other. Aphrodite rolled her eyes and whispered, "Don't mind them." And a floating mirror floated in front of her so she could apply another few layers of make-up.

I bowed my head a little to them all, as did Annabeth, and Athena broke off the argument with Poseidon and directed her yelling at me.

"What did you do to her!" She yelled in my face, then looked at Annabeth who was fighting back tears.

"I-I don't know. Honestly!" I put my hands up in surrender and a spear appeared in her hand.

"Athena, put that away! You will not hurt my son!" And a trident appeared in Poseidon's hand. What the Hades was going on?

"You're toying with daughter's heart, boy. That is why I did not approve of your relationship in the first place; now look what you did to her!" Athena said, waving her hand frantically at Annabeth.

"I-I swear, I don't know what you're talking about Lady Athena!" I was scared she might chop my head off in one swift move of her arm.

"Mother, i-it's not h-his fault. This i-is none of y-your business." Annabeth said slowly. Then Aphrodite glided in, looked at me, then sighed.

"I think he really doesn't know what's going on, guys. Okay, Percy! Athena here thinks you're... Oh I don't know, using Annabeth here." She sounded too tired to talk.
"And that you're really in love with Calypso, there." She snapped her fingers and Calypso appeared next to me, looking dazed at what just happened. It was silent for a few moments and Athena spoke.

"Pick one, stupid boy." She said coldly. I hesitated; I didn't know why but I felt tingles all over my body.

Athena grunted and snapped her fingers, and suddenly I was on one side of the rooftop and Calypso and Annabeth were on the other side; spread apart.
I tried to tun forward to Annabeth but an invisible wall stopped me. I heard Poseidon yell, "ATHENA! Do not do this!" But she snapped her fingers a second time and Poseidon disappeared.

Athena stood in the middle of all of us and announced, "Perseus. These two are about to be killed and you only have time to save one." She held up one finger as if to emphasize. I pounded on the wall but it didn't break. I could see Calypso and Annabeth doing the same. I heard Annabeth yell something at Athena but she brushed it off. Athena waved her hand and Calypso and Annabeth were in chains- connected to the ground below them. A clear solid wall with spikes were moving slowly towards them from behind, while saw blades were coming at them from above.

"Go Percy." Athena said and disappeared. My heart broke, but I ran towards Calypso.
