Percy and Annabeth Ch. 60

Percy's PoV. Chapter 60.


    "Try walking into it?" Nico suggested and gestured his hand towards my body on the bed. I walked slowly to my own body and looked down at it. Man, I was going to need a serious tan after this; my skin was completely white and my eyes were the lightest shade of green, staring into space. I touched my hand and it went completely through it like air.

"Doesn't work," I mumbled. Just then, uncoordinated footsteps and taps erupted near the cabin door. I turned to see Annabeth stumbling like a drunk into the cabin.

"Haff... Tuh shee... Pershy," I heard her say.

"Annabeth!" Amy ran in after her, panting, and grabbed her arms. Annabeth almost fell to the ground, but managed to pick herself back up quickly with her eyes blinking like crazy. Her whole left arm was covered in bandages that she was clutching so hard, I saw her knuckles turn white. Some blood stains were seeping through.

"Pershy!" She screamed when she saw me and started running toward me; well, as best as she could.

"Annabeth, wait!" But she already ran right through me, falling on to my real body. The dead one. She quickly turned her head to face me and gave me a horrified but sad face. Then she burst into tears. Once I saw her sink to the ground covering her face with her hands, my heart shattered. Even if I was just a soul, I felt like stabbing myself in the chest.

"It's okay, Annabeth," Amy said. In another attempt, I touched my body's hand and my head felt like it was being crushed. Then I had a weird feeling- like I was being vacuumed up. When I opened my eyes again, I was staring up at the a bottom of a bunk bed. I immediately sat up and touched my arms, legs, and torso. I was alive again?

"It's okay..." I heard Nico say. I turned around to face them. Nico saw me and his eyes popped right out of their sockets. I smiled.

"It's NOT okay!" Annabeth suddenly yelled and stood up in one quick motion. She shoved a finger into Nico's chest. "It's ALL YOUR FAULT." She yelled louder and tackled Nico. She started punching him like crazy and I think I saw some... Saliva gushing out of her mouth?
Amy rushed and tried to pull Annabeth off, but all she did was thrash and start attacking Amy.

"Ugh... Bitch be crazy..." Nico mumbled. I got up and separated Annabeth from Amy, trying to hold Annabeth down by her arms. Amy stumbled away out of my vision.

"Look, Annabeth! I'm here!" I said. She kept shaking herself vigorously, trying to escape my grasp until she screamed and sank her teeth into my hand.

"OW!" I yelled and let go of her, clutching my hand. Her teeth left deep indents in my palm but it didn't bleed. I tried approaching her slowly but she sank quickly to the ground, shuffled to the corner of the cabin, and curled up into a ball. A piece a paper was shoved into my face.

"Read it," Amy whispered almost inaudibly. I took the paper and started reading.

She has rabies from Cerberus when he bit her. Her senses are extremely heightened, so make one tiny wrong move or loud noise and it'll make her go crazy. Sedate her

I looked up at Amy, about to question the 'sedate her' part until she held out a syringe in her hand. I took it gently and faced Annabeth. I heard thunder crackle outside, faintly. But apparently, that was enough for Annabeth; she started whimpering and shifting uncontrollably in the corner, covering her ears like she was trying to juice her own head. I walked slowly to her, trying to be as quiet as possible. She shot a look up at me, her eyes twitched. I knelt down slowly next to her, holding the syringe behind my back.

"Annabeth," I said so quietly, I could barely hear myself speak. She looked at me, her eyes were sad and scared, and her head shook like she was freezing to death, "I have to give you a shot, okay?" I whispered again. Her mouth opened like she was open to say something but then it looked like she was about to scream. Instead, saliva and white foam came out. Delicious...

"I love you," I mumbled, pulled out the syringe, and stabbed her right arm.
